What is Couch Codes?

Couch Codes is a local multiplayer party game where teams compete using word association, deduction, and a bit of luck.

One player runs the game on a PC, and everyone else joins using their phones - no apps required, just a browser.

Perfect for:

  • Game nights

  • LAN parties

  • Bonding

  • Shouting at your friends

How to Play

  1. One player launches the game on PC (host) and starts a new lobby

  2. Other players join using their phones via browser

  3. Split into Red and Blue teams

  4. Each team has:

    • Clue Master – gives clues

    • Guessers – try to find the correct words

  5. Take turns until a team wins… or explodes

Roles

Clue Master

  • Sees the full board on his phone (including the colors)

  • Gives a clue + the number of cards it's associated with 

  • Can't guess

Guesser

  • Sees only the words (Not colored)

  • Highlights a word he likes by tapping on it once

  • Submits guesses

  • Can end the turn early

Requirements

  • PC + phones on the same local network (LAN)

  • Windows

  • Modern mobile browser

  • Firewall permission on first launch

The server starts automatically - no setup needed.

  • Unity host

  • Node.js + Socket.IO networking

  • Web-based mobile clients

  • Designed as a solo portfolio project
